About WhatsMyName App
WhatsMyName App is a free, browser-based username search tool that checks 732 platforms simultaneously and returns real-time results with direct links to every found profile. No account required, no software to install, no cost.
The tool is built for anyone who needs to find where a username exists online: security researchers mapping digital footprints, journalists verifying identities, HR teams checking candidate profiles, and individuals auditing their own online presence.
What This Site Does
This site hosts a web interface for the WhatsMyName username search tool and publishes guides, comparisons, and resources related to OSINT and username investigation.
The tool works by sending a read-only request to each platform in its database using the username you enter. It checks whether the response matches a known pattern confirming an account exists at that URL. Results stream in real time as each check completes. Found accounts appear as clickable links that open the live profile directly.
Every search runs entirely within your browser session. Nothing you search is logged, stored, or retained after your session ends.
The Data Behind the Tool
The platform detection dataset powering WhatsMyName App is sourced from the WhatsMyName project created by Micah Hoffman, known in the OSINT community as WebBreacher. The dataset is maintained collaboratively on GitHub by contributors from the security research and OSINT community worldwide.
The dataset currently covers 732 platforms across social media, gaming, coding communities, forums, dating sites, finance platforms, music and video streaming, tech communities, shopping, image hosting, news, and business networks.
The WhatsMyName project dataset is licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0. The application code and frontend design of this site are the property of WhatsMyName App. Full details are in the Terms of Service.
